Why learning breaks are important

Summer has arrived in Bavaria and the schools have closed their doors for the long holidays. For our children, it's a welcome break, a moment to breathe after an intense school year. But what about us adults who work in the dynamic world of supply chain management? Can we also afford a break?

The answer is a resounding YES! Learning breaks are not only important for school children. Studies have shown that regular breaks improve attention and help maintain learning ability. They give us time to process and store new information, and they are an essential part of our cognitive growth.

Breaks also play a central role for our trainers. As experts in their field, they need time to collect new ideas for courses and improve their teaching. They too use breaks to reflect, develop innovative concepts, and further educate themselves, ultimately leading to a better learning experience for all of us.

In fact, breaks have the potential to ignite creativity. By providing space for reflection and idea generation, breaks can open up new insights and perspectives. Our trainers utilize this creative space to engage with the material in exciting and effective ways, and then bring these innovations into their teaching.

However, it's not just about taking a break, but about finding a balance between learning, working, and taking breaks. A lack of breaks can lead to burnout and decreased productivity, both for workers/learners and trainers. That's why it's crucial to integrate regular breaks into one's individual continuing education journey.

An interesting idea that arises from this is the concept of "summer holidays" for adults and trainers. These could be used to solidify our knowledge, gain new perspectives, and improve our teaching concepts. These could be short sabbaticals, special continuing education courses, or workshops.

So why not integrate the concept of summer holidays into your personal and professional continuing education? Keep an eye on our upcoming continuing education courses and events that will be offered after the summer break, and look forward to fresh ideas and concepts from our well-rested and further educated trainers.
