Last week, a small group of colleagues attended LearnTec, the leading European trade fair and congress for digital education in schools, universities, and professional development, in Karlsruhe. This annual "company outing" is a highlight for us as we always discover new learning methods and technologies.
This year, artificial intelligence (AI) was (naturally) a particular focus. An impressive application of AI that addresses the issue of knowledge loss due to the impending retirement of the Baby Boomer generation convinced us so much that we are eager to recommend it here:
Jan Foelsing, author of the book "New Work Needs New Learning," presented a use case for AI in storing and utilizing knowledge within a corporate environment. The steps are simple and can be quickly implemented with AI:
- Querying knowledge: Knowledge can be recorded weekly via audio by experts.
- Structuring knowledge: The responses are processed by AI.
- Qualifying knowledge: Responses are assessed for their validity by both AI and experts.
- Utilizing knowledge: The validated responses are used as a knowledge base for bots.
The application areas include:
- Offboarding / Expert Debriefings
- Onboarding
- Performance Support (Bots operating with a knowledge database)
- Skill Verification & Transparency
Especially points 2-4 can help in evaluating the plethora of information and building a knowledge database.
At PMI, we work with Supply Chain practitioners as trainers, who are eager to share their knowledge in the classroom and, combined with a trainer certification and appropriate professional certification, make perfect trainers for us.
But don't you also have many experts in your company whose knowledge is often not shared or preserved quickly and easily enough? Perhaps the idea above is inspiring for you? We are also happy to help you structure and evaluate the knowledge of your experts!
