PMI has been The Fresh Connection Global PRO Challenge Partner since 2014. What is successful about this event and is it worth attending? Daniel Schmidt, Director of Education and Research at PMI, asked the most successful PMI team of The Fresh Connection Global PRO Final 2022, Team QuickSip. Benjamin Bloch, Daniel Feiersleben and Paul Stadler talked about their personal insights.
The team placed fourth among all participants worldwide in The Fresh Connection Global PRO Challenge 2022. Although they were a little disappointed to have missed the podium, pride in their achievement still prevails.
And they agreed: it was worth investing their time in the challenge! It was a lot of fun communicating in the team, exchanging different opinions, discussing and making decisions. Being able to see directly in the company simulation what impact their decisions had and how these decisions improved the situation of the company was a great added value.
The team members have never met before and were brought together by PMI. They came from different companies and had different experiences, but quickly found common ground. Despite their different backgrounds and approaches to decision-making, they were able to have productive discussions and reach consensus.
Daniel from Team QuickSip also appreciated the strategic aspect of the competition where they had to anticipate the outcome of their decisions.
His colleagues shared opinions about the value of working together as a team. "We came with different opinions, with different ideas, with different strategies and made our decisions in unison," they said. "Everyone was right from a different perspective."
They were also asked to make joint decisions virtually at a distance. Through all of this, they were able to learn a lot from each other and think they can use their common knowledge from the challenge for their everyday work.
Overall, the interview highlighted the value of collaboration and teamwork for success, even in the face of challenges and different perspectives. The group's experience at The Fresh Connection Global PRO Challenge showed that with effective communication and a willingness to compromise, even a team with different backgrounds, starting points and approaches can achieve great things.
