The Logistics Industry Faces Transformative Shift

Importance of APICS CLTD Certification Program for a Skilled Workforce

The logistics and shipping industries are on the brink of a revolutionary transformation, surpassing the significance of past shifts to third-party logistics. This transformation is driven by the increasing digitization of these sectors, leading to the rise of platform-based business models that connect new players and revolutionize operations.

The convergence of rich logistics data streams, advanced cloud, platform, and blockchain technologies, along with powerful market forces, are key factors driving this shift. As a result, innovative platform business models are expected to reshape how logistics, trade, freight, and maritime operations are conducted.

However, to capitalize on the potential of these platforms and navigate challenges to existing revenue streams, the logistics workforce will need new capabilities. Education and training are vital components in adapting to this rapidly evolving landscape. Equipping professionals with the right skills and knowledge will be crucial for staying competitive and seizing new opportunities.

Addressing this need is the APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD) certification program. This pivotal program plays a vital role in educating the logistics workforce and preparing them for the changing demands of the industry. By providing comprehensive training on various topics, including logistics strategy, transportation planning, and distribution operations, the CLTD certification enhances professionals' expertise, making them better equipped to thrive in the emerging platform-based logistics landscape.

The importance of the CLTD certification program lies in its adherence to industry best practices. Following a high-stakes certification standard, the program evaluates the job roles of supply chain management practitioners and identifies how tasks, skills, and knowledge evolve over time. As part of their ongoing efforts, ASCM is conducting a global industry research project to further enhance the CLTD certification program. Supply chain professionals in logistics, transportation, or distribution are invited to contribute their expertise by completing the job task analysis (JTA) survey by August 25, 2023. This input will guide the development of an updated CLTD Exam Content Manual (ECM), ensuring that the certification's content reflects current industry trends and remains relevant.

The JTA survey is confidential and is expected to take up to 25 minutes to complete. Bonus: Professionals who hold APICS credentials will also be eligible to receive one certification maintenance point upon survey completion. Take the survey now!

If you want to elevate your career to the next level, join one of our upcoming CLTD certification program in autumn/winter: APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution (CLTD)on 11.-13. October in Hamburg & 6.-8. November 2023 in Munich.
