You can study Supply Chain Management.

But what does it actually feel like to manage a supply chain?

That's exactly what Bachelor's students at Munich University of Applied Sciences (School of Business Administration, FK10) are experiencing this winter semester!

As part of Prof. André Krischke's course “SP.2 Operations & Process Management”, they are taking on the challenge of managing a virtual company with the business simulation The Fresh Connection.

And one thing quickly becomes clear: A good Supply Chain Strategy alone is not enough!

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Purchasing, Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain need to make decisions together – while navigating conflicting objectives and priorities.
  • Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP): An evergreen in Supply Chain Management! How can demand, capacity, inventory, and financial objectives be aligned?
  • Supply Chain Strategy: Which decisions support the overall business strategy – and which might lead to unexpected consequences?

Once again this semester, Andrea Walbert, our Managing Director, is supporting Prof. Krischke in bringing the simulation into the classroom, giving students a realistic insight into the complexity of Supply Chain Management and S&OP.

And that's exactly what makes business simulations so valuable: Not just understanding concepts in theory, but experiencing their impact firsthand, making decisions, learning from mistakes, and discovering how everything is connected.

We are delighted to continue our long-standing collaboration with Munich University of Applied Sciences and look forward to seeing which strategies the teams develop and how successfully they navigate their virtual company through the upcoming decision rounds.

Good luck to all students – and most importantly, enjoy the learning journey!
