Networking is crucial

Leading supply chain associations provide important platforms

Joining a supply chain association is crucial if you have a genuine interest in the field of supply chain, isn't it? Building networks, exchanging experiences, and sharing knowledge are crucial because supply chains are dynamic and require a highly adaptable mindset.

Out of all disciplines, supply chain management particularly necessitates communication, collaboration, and the sharing of information to effectively address changes, disruptions, and fluctuations in supply and demand. This enables the development of optimal solutions, including backup plans if necessary.

An essential competency in supply chain management involves analyzing and understanding the underlying causes of issues and promptly addressing their consequences. To conduct a root cause analysis, it is necessary to have access to available and transparent data, with a willingness to share this information. Hoarding data and exercising complete control over it negatively impacts the performance of the supply chain.

However, this does not imply that data should be universally accessible without any guidelines. Instead, successful companies with resilient supply chains have cultivated a culture that encourages the sharing and rewarding of information. The utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will simplify the interpretation and analysis of data, but it will also pose a significant challenge for employers in terms of data protection, as ensuring the security and privacy of data becomes increasingly crucial. Furthermore, raising awareness and sensitivity among employees regarding data protection will be paramount in the future.

Although education and training can equip you with the skills to handle, interpret, and analyze data, it is still crucial to engage in exchanges with other companies and professionals. These interactions provide valuable showcases of how others have addressed similar issues to the ones you are currently facing.

In the upcoming month, our primary educational collaborator, the supply chain association ASCM, will be organizing ASCM CONNECT 2023 Europe, a significant supply chain conference taking place in Brussels. The objective of this conference is to offer valuable insights, knowledge, and networking prospects to individuals who are interested in improving supply chain processes, increasing efficiency, and staying well-informed about the latest industry trends and innovations. There is a free workshop included as pre-conference event for attendees, which highlights all the new features of SCOR DS; how organizations are leveraging the model as part of their toolkit for transformation; and how the models integrate with the Digital Capabilities Model and the ASCM Standards for Sustainability. The workshop will be facilitated by Douglas Kent and Peter Bolstorff with featured guest Sean Culey. There is an extra registration required as there is a maximum capacity of 75 attendees.

As part of our commitment to knowledge sharing, our managing partner, Andrea Walbert, will be co-presenting with one of our clients, discussing digital learning tools, experiences, and the advantages they bring.

See you in Brussels on June 26-28! If you plan to attend the conference please use this link.
