First AST&L PLS Course in Germany
March 08, 2012 -- The first AST&L "Professional Designation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management" (PLS) was held in Frankfurt on February 27-29, 2012. The course is internationally recognized and can be completed with certification.
AST&L American Society of Transportation and Logistics is a professional organization founded in 1946 by a group of industry leaders to insure a high level of professionalism and promote continuing education in the field of transportation and logistics. AST&L is based on the newest scientific knowledge and therefore also an interesting option for universities.
The topics within the PLS (Professional Designation in Logistics and Supply Chain Management) include those confronting logistics and supply chain managers on a global basis: competitive strategy, customer value and service, logistics costs and performance, responsiveness, lead-time management, risk management, integration of supply chain processes, and transforming the logistics organization.
The lecturer was Douglas Hales (Associate Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the University of Rhode Island, U.S.A.) who is also a member of the exam committee of AST&L. The participants were mainly sent from blue-chip companies or consultancies. It was the combination of English-spoken education and the internationally recognized knowledge which both impressed and motivated the participants.
"Now we are able to offer a program which is perfect for transport and distribution experts in an international environment", said the PMI Managing Director Andrea Walbert. She was so delighted with the positive feedback from the very successful new PLS course.
