CPIM - Certified in Production and Inventory Management

All CPIM exams are administered via computer-based testing. There are 2 exams to complete the CPIM certification (CPIM Part 1 and CPIM Part 2).

Candidates have three and a half (3.5) hours to complete each CPIM exam.

Pretest questions do not contribute to the total score but are necessary for research purposes. Pretest questions are randomly distributed among the scored items and are used for statistical purposes only, candidates should answer all exam questions.

Exam content is developed according to the test outline included in the "CPIM Exam Content Manual" and is industry-validated by global subject matter experts. Exam questions are monitored through a rigorous psychometric calibration and cross-referenced to industry-approved material.

APICS uses a scaled score methodology, which is a technique for equation scores in which the degree of difficulty varies from one exam form to the next. This ensures equivalent passing standards are maintained for each exam form.

The CPIM scaled score range is 265-330:

  • 265 – 299 Fail
  • 300 – 330 Pass

At the end of the computer-based exam, candidates will receive immediately a printed score report with pass/fail information.
