Basic knowledge
Basic level of English for BSCM, advanced level of English for the remaining CPIM modules (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Certification
The APICS CPIM-Certified in Production and Inventory Management- entails 5 APICS exams. A candidate who passes all five CPIM exams obtains the CPIM status and will receive a personalized certificate "Certified in Production & Inventory Management".
In Germany and Austria the administration of the certification exams is done by GSCP (Gesellschaft der Supply Chain Professionals e.V.).
BSCM
The Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) module is the first module of the CPIM and is the fundamental introduction into Supply Chain Management. This seminar explains Supply Chain terminology and basic concepts related to managing the complete flow of materials from suppliers to customers. Not only is the flow of materials covered in the BSCM, but also information and cash flow in context in value chain processes. In addition, the course addresses types of manufacturing systems, forecasting, master planning, material requirements planning, capacity management, production activity control, purchasing, inventory management, distribution, qualitiy management, and Just-in-Time manufacturing.

MPR
The Master Planning of Resources (MPR) module is the second module of the CPIM and encompasses the processes for quantifiying actual and projected customer demand, translating that demand into realistic supply plans that are consistent with the resource constraints, business policies and business objectives of the organization as well as developing and validating a master schedule.
This module includes the explanation of the business processes that are required for the transition of actual and projected demand into realistic and executable production schedules. The module highlights the need for different types of supply plans, how they are constructed in a range of business environments and altternative approaches to developing and evaluating such plans.

DSP
The Detailed Scheduling and Planning (DSP) module is the third module of the CPIM and and focuses on material and capacity scheduling and planning. It includes a detailed explanation of material requirements planning (MRP), a technique suitable for use in both business and retail. You are introduced to an alternative material planning technique, material-dominated scheduling, which is significantly different from MRP and is applicable for process industries and other mature production environments. The course clarifies capacity requirements planning in detail and introduces other capacity-planning techniques, including processor-dominated scheduling.

ECO
The Execution and Control of Operations (ECO) module is the fourth module of the CPIM and focuses on three main areas: prioritizing and sequencing work; executing work plans, implementing controls and reporting activity results; and evaluating and providing feedback on performance. The techniques for scheduling and controlling production and process operations are also included of this module. Also addressed is the execution of quality initiatives and continuous improvement plans as well as the control and handling of inventories. Finally, the course includes techniques for evaluating performance and collecting data for effective feedback.

SMR
The Strategic Management of Resources (SMR) module is the fifth module of the CPIM and explores the relationship of existing and emerging processes and technologies to manufacturing strategy and supply-chain-related functions. The course addresses three main topics: aligning resources with the strategic plan, configuring and integrating operating processes to support the strategic plan, and implementing change.
